2019 Master of Architecture - Thesis

2019 Graduate Thesis - NewSchool of Architecture & Design

In October 2018, twelve aspiring designers decides to take on their final chapter of their Master of Architecture/MS. Architecture of their academic journey through a three quarter thesis project. After nine months of hard work, determination, and perseverance, they pin their work on the wall and presented their final presentation to different jury panels.

“What is your problem?”

Each student started this year long process by identifying a problem in our built environment. From housing for over-growing population, to environmental and health impact due to the drying of the Salton Sea, improving community life, or even rethinking urban fabric through transportation, each project diverge on their path to think of a solution or theory in which may solve the issues.

May 30, 2019, the remaining ten students spent six and half hours presenting their project and results to their panel. The sigh of relief can be heard as all ten students sit in a circle one last time with their Thesis Advisor, Vuslat Demircay, Ph.D to wrap up the year. The journey was tiring, the mental capacity of each of us was challenged, but every student showed their skills, endurance, and professionalism on this day, proving we are deserving of the degree we are striving for.

Congratulation to Class of 2019 and good luck on your journey ahead.
